About Me

Hi there, we’re the Lavoies. We decided to create this food blog together as a way to experiment, create and share some of our most delicious delicacies with others around the world. We love our dog Elsa, hiking in the woods, traveling to far off places, and of course food (obvs). When Alex and I first got together it was a wee bit of a scandal. He was my boss and we both worked at Whole Foods. After a slap on the wrist, a demotion and being the topic of gossip at your local supermarket, the rest was history. Seven years later, we’re stronger than ever and eager to try new things. We don’t discriminate when it comes to food and if you ever see my husband in person you’ll know the man needs to eat… all… the… time… From fresh baked bread, to meat pies, to roasted vegetables with fish, expect everything. As a Registered Dietitian myself, I try to emphasize a plant-based diet whenever I can to not only promote a healthy lifestyle but for the sustainability of our wonderful planet. However, I also come from a family of sweet tooths and my sugar addiction is real. My philosophy which I oftentimes tell my patients is eat what you truly enjoy, savor the flavor, and don’t waste your time on anything that doesn’t taste 100% mouth-watering, orgasmic, and utterly delicious!

Believe it or not, when Alex and I first met my way of cooking was a box of Rice A Roni, pasta noodles with Ragu, or sautéed zucchini with rice. Learning how to cook different dishes and utilizing the flavor of spices took time, practice and patience. I firmly believe anyone can learn to cook. All you have to do is try and get out of your comfort zone. So go grab a cooking buddy and channel your inner Anthony Bourdain and let’s get started!
