Don't you just love the smell of cinnamon apples in the kitchen? I know I do and it happens to be one of my favorite fruits during this holiday season. This delicious recipe will be the center of attention and a tasty appetizer at any get together, small or large. The baked brie oozes in your mouth with each bite and when you pair it with the hot cinnamon apples it will without a doubt tickle your taste buds. We could all use some holiday cheer and guilt free fun this Christmas so why not give it a try. This baked brie recipe pairs well with crackers, a toasted baguette, crostini or even mixed nuts. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
While the oven is preheating, prepare the cinnamon apples. In a medium saucepan, add the diced apples and water. Sauté on medium heat for 5 minutes. Then, add the butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla extract and salt. Sauté for an additional 10 minutes on medium heat. Occasionally stir the mixture and cover when you’re not stirring. Remove from the heat, keep the lid on the pan and set aside.
Put the brie on a baking sheet with parchment paper underneath. Bake the brie for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted through. Carefully transfer the brie to a serving plate.
Top the brie with the hot cinnamon apples and serve immediately with your choice of crackers or toasted bread.
Use any type of brie you prefer. I used Président Brie and it’s an affordable, delicious option.
Not all of the cinnamon apples will fit on top of the brie. I recommend putting half on top and the other half in a small bowl right next to the brie. After eating half of the brie almost all of the first half of the cinnamon apples were gone so topping it off with the second half works well.
Reheat the baked brie for later use for 1-2 minutes in the microwave.
